City Walking Tour
This tour is combination among exploring the old city, cultural and social diversity, daily life, museum hoping and art exhibition. Tour participant gather at Jalan Pasar Kembang is located beside Tugu train station. Firstly visit Pasar Kembang Prostitution Area: The only one and mostly operation at night. Proceed to Jalan Sosrowijayan : The oldest tourist area in Yogyakarta and many losmen, homestay, small restaurant here specially for backpacker. Continued to Ketandan Area : Small China town is located close Jalan Malioboro. Their home is not only for staying but also for trading. Mostly Chinese here sell gold and jewel. Then pass Jalan Malioboro: Main and the most popular street in Yogyakarta where many street vendor sell their merchandise.
We will pass Gedung Agung : In the past time place for Dutch residence and now for VIP guest when they visit to Yogyakarta. Vredeburg Fortress: Was built in 1765 to prevent military movement from Sultan Palace and now for Indonesian struggle museum. Bank BNI 1946 Office : In Dutch colonization period for Javasche bank and Escompto bank and in Japan colonization period for Nippon Hoso Kyoko [Japan Radio Broadcasting Corporation] and Main Post Office. Proceed to Sonobudoyo Museum : The most completed museum in Yogyakarta and store art and cultural collection such as: Javanese musical instrument, puppet, traditional weapon etc. Continued to Sultan Palace : Place where king of Yogyakarta stay and see museum where previous sultan store their collections.
Afterward visit Ngasem Bird Market : The oldest bird market in Indonesia and display is not only bird but also many kind of pets such as : dog, cat, snake, bat etc. Then visit Water Castle : Former pleasure garden for sultan I-III and has three swimming pools.
